P02. COMITATO D'INTESA - ITALY

Comitato d'Intesa was created in 1977 from the initiative of 9 organisations that are still working for the social problems of the provincial area. Now it gathers 161 associations operating in many different sectors such as: youth policy, interculturality, sustainable development, social solidarity, assistance of persons with special needs and to support a healthy way of life. In order to organise better its activities and to permit a real exchange of information and experiences between all associations, those are divided into the following 7 thematic groups: youth, environment, health, disability, elderly, assistance, specific disease. The main reason for setting up this coordination body were to promote information, cooperation and exchange of resources; to have an unique reference point for all actions in the health, environmental and social fields; to fight more effectively against the segregation of disadvantaged groups and social excluded people; improving and deepening the dialogue among the participating associations; coordinating contacts with the public bodies, so as to promote dialogue and consensus around the most effective solutions to the local problems; to enforce new services and help communities, based on innovative projects.
